This program provides information on bullying/cyberbullying and its dangers, and how to engage your community to raise awareness of issues.  It is important to educate and engage all of the groups involved with bullying, including bullies, victims, peer onlookers, and adults.

Lincoln Room: Curriculum of the Home
Your child’s success in school begins with you.  Suggestions will be offered to parents/families for creating a home environment which encourages learning.  The six characteristics of families whose children are doing well will be explored.  Parents are teachers; they create home environments that promote learning for their child.   Parents are leaders; they model for their children and other parents the value of learning and involvement.   Parents are supporters; they are involved with and for their child and other children and with the school.  Learn how important YOU are in your child’s education.

Presented by:  Connie Hermann, SD Parent Information and Resource Center

Jefferson Room: Mass Customized Learning: Breaking the Barriers of Industrial Age Education
What if every day, every learner came to school and was met with customized learning activities at his or her precise developmental and achievement level? What if every day every learner was learning in one of her/his most effective learning modes? What if every day every learner was learning with content of interest to himself or herself? And what if every day every learner was challenged, successful, and left school eager to come back the next day? This is the vision of Mass Customized Learning (MCL). In this session, I’ll share information about the concept of MCL and about the technologies that allow us to break down the barriers of time and space to create rich customized learning experiences for students.

Presented by:  Dr. Julie Mathiesen, Director of Technology and Innovation in Education (TIE).
